Pulp City published a new announcement:
Previously, Kitbash Games was the development partner for Pulp City, whereas now Kitbash Games has taken on complete responsibility for the Pulp City game and associated IP.
Step 1 means that Kitbash Games now has greens and resin masters of unreleased and previously released minis. That means we can start rebuilding towards the Full Effect Kickstarter campaign. That will take some time however, for the following reasons:
• Inventory required for all unreleased sculpts to ensure there are no gaps remaining – Kitbash Games and Pulp Monsters will liaise over this through the next few weeks.
• Photographing and editing images of circa 50 sculpts.
• Finalising KS graphics from the above.
All of the above means that Full Effect will be ‘soon’ (as in months away) rather than imminent – planning, launching, and running a Kickstarter is a lot of work, especially for a single-handed operation.
Because of the time required for the above, I will proceed with another Supers Unlimited Kickstarter in the meantime, due to launch soon.
In addition, Kitbash Games now has a small stock of the Supreme Edition book which will be added to the Kitbash Games Etsy store in the next few days.
Alongside the above, Kitbash Games and Pulp Monsters will be working through further transfer of remaining physical assets, including book stock, metal casts (which will be phased out in favour of resin going forward), and cards. However, this will take careful planning as import post-Brexit has created a lot of trade friction between the UK and EU, meaning not just customs duties apply, but more notably shipping costs have inflated considerably.
Finding a new UK-based card printer is now a priority as the Polish option has become too expensive due to the trade friction from Brexit as noted above; I tried one UK printer but the results were simply not quite sharp enough, so I am looking around; I have followed up with another printer recommended by our friends at Crooked Dice, so I am hopeful that solution works out.
Things that are done that you may not be aware of:
Some new Necroplane Scourge art concepts are done, with one or two more to be added.
Trinity Inc. art concepts are done.
Going forward these are plans I have in mind, in no particular order:
• Launch Full Effect KS early 2024.
• Finalise the Power Up book; most rules content is complete, and circa 50% of fluff is written – I am in discussion with Melvin again to layout to maintain consistency with the SE book. Power Up would likely be Kitbash Games’ second solo Pulp City KS, so realistically 2025 at the earliest.
• Keep Pulp City and Supers Unlimited as separate lines. Each has their own design ethos, and I want to maintain that – Supers Unlimited cards will continue to carry the ‘Powered by Pulp City’ notice.
• Arrange stock transfer from Poland to UK with Maciej; this will be worked through in the next few months.
• Metal stock transferred from Poland will be sold down, and moulding slowly moved to resin - resin is necessary due to high international shipping costs for KS backers and store customers.
• Develop the Scourge team further (Supreme Zed, Dreadwing, Wonder Wight, and the Full Effect KS Stretch Goal of Riptide). Melvin has recently completed two new concepts for the Team, including Phantasmagoria shown here!
• Profiles for Trinity Inc: they will be a plug and play sub-team and hark back to early shout-outs and art. Trinity Inc. is: Tank Red, Carnivern and Coldfront. You can see the art concept for Tank Red in this post!
• Release an update card pack for the most under/over-powered 10-12 characters. Dark Solar is in my sights as the most broken/OP profile in the game.
• Use the Power Up KS to fill out any final gaps (e.g. expand Star Marshals, Infinite hourglass etc.) and add Danger Academy, a catch all team to bring together various faculty members.
• I'd like to do a KS to create a small Legends line - in my mind’s eye they would all be sculpted by James Van Schaik and would be new sculpts like old Guerilla to newer Guerilla was. Legend would be a new Role to encourage backing, and fans would influence which characters get a Legends sculpt. No Faction would get more than one Legend, and ideally it would cover only 8-12 models so some would probably miss out. This would help the retirement of some older models and the transition to resin. I see James Van Schaik as the only sculptor for this, therefore I am unlikely to proceed if I cannot secure his work.
• Establish a Kitbash Games website store - I had to use Etsy due to UK-EU post-Brexit trade friction, but now other solutions (albeit not cheap!) are coming into the market. Currently there will be 60+ Supers Unlimited SKUs and likely over 200 Pulp City SKUs so it will be a work in progress.
• Figure out a model of returning to international distribution.
