There's so much potential for Soda Pop Miniatures, just like the Infinity game miniatures. The problem is that both tend to miss the mark when it comes to the Anime and Manga audience.
Final Fantasy 7 set the standard in character design, blending the popular anime colourful big hair adventures with the gritty cyberpunk elements and futuristic weapons which introduced anime to the West back in the early 90s.
Soda Pop seems to be rolling with over the top character designs from Outlaw Star, Scryed and similar shows, but without any unifying theme.
I feel that Soda Pop needs to clearly define its ranges if they are to become a serious miniature games company rather than a manufacturer of one-off anime styled miniatures.
Thats a fair critique Adam. As we have developed our look, we have purposely tried to spread around the concepts to give tastes of the many factions and style features of a larger porfolio of products coming down the pipe. As we are not launching our games product just yet, we have a little time to present our products and to fill in all the gaps as we proceed... and I hope you will be pleasantly suprised.
At least you've nailed it with Super Dungeon Explore. Reminds me of playing Shining Force on the Sega Mega Drive (Genesis) as a teenager.
If you sold this in a nice boxed set like a chibi version of Warhammer Quest, I'm sure it'd sell like hotcakes.
Relic knights currently feels like it could be another Warmachine. Although I feel that these designs of anime miniatures would be more popular amongst the role players than the war gamers.
John Cadice has my email if you'd like to discuss more ideas regarding the anime/wargames cross over.
